The Federal School of Biomedical Engineering situated in Lagos University Teaching Hospital, was one of the five (5) Schools of Biomedical Engineering established by the Federal Ministry of Health in 2003 in response to the shortage of adequately trained Biomedical Technicians who can fit into a significant aspect of our healthcare system that is high-technology based; trained technicians who would operate, maintain and repair medical equipment for their optimal performance. With our fully accredited National Diploma and interim accredited Higher National Diploma programs in Biomedical Engineering Technology, we aim to produce quality Biomedical Engineering Technicians/Technologists for the health care institutions, pharmaceutical industry, medical equipment manufacturers and representatives, and other related industries. We also aim to serve as a centre of academic excellence through the promotion of extensive practical based classes while promoting sound moral principles, ethics, national unity, excellence and service to humanity. Our vision to be a foremost and pacesetter among schools of Biomedical Engineering around the world. Our mission statement is 'Saving life through saving medical equipment'. Our Mission is to to train an adequate qualified Biomedical Engineer/Technician who can manage, operate, maintain and repair Hospital Equipment necessary for the Health care delivery system thus playing our part in the technological and economic growth of our nation.
