The Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) held the inauguration and induction ceremony of its newly established Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) on the 3rd of November at the Human Resources Auditorium.

The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Wasiu Adeyemo, FAS, represented by the chairman Medical Advisory Committee, Prof. Oluwole, delivered the welcome address, appreciating the presence of the top management, staff, and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) team. He noted that the ICPC’s partnership with LUTH aims to strengthen transparency, educate staff, and officially inaugurate the ACTU committee.
In his remarks, Mr. Alexander Chukwura, the Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner, ICPC Lagos State, commended LUTH for its commitment to institutional integrity. The oath-taking ceremony was conducted by Barrister Yemisi, who led the inducted members in reciting and signing the oath of office.



The first presentation was delivered by Mr. Chukwuemeka Okaroh on “Overview of the ACTU Standing Order and Operational Guidelines.” He emphasized the importance of understanding the concept and causes of corruption, outlined the duties of ACTU members, and encouraged staff to uphold integrity and report corrupt practices.

The second presentation, by Mrs. Florence Barikoloka, focused on “Preliminary Investigation.” She explained the importance of factual petitions and guided ACTU officers on applying the “5Ws and H” (What, Who, Where, When, Why, and How) in handling investigations.

The newly inaugurated ACTU Chairman, Dr. Ifedayo, in his acceptance speech, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and pledged to promote transparency, accountability, and fairness within the hospital while maintaining strong collaboration with the ICPC.

The closing remark was delivered by Prof. Wasiu Adeyemo, FAS, who reiterated management’s commitment to integrity, distinguishing the ACTU’s role from that of the disciplinary committee. He appreciated the ICPC team and the entire staff for their dedication.
The Director of Administration, Ms. Omolola Fakeye, JP, gave the vote of thanks, extending appreciation to all participants and reaffirming LUTH’s support for the ACTU initiative.
