LUTH Confers Certificates on 183 Graduates at 2025 Joint Graduation Ceremony
The Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) held its Joint Graduation Ceremony for the 2025 set on Friday, 28th November 2025. This year, LUTH graduated a total of 183 students from four of its nine schools, namely the School of Community Health, School of Psychiatric and Social Work, School of Health Information Management, and the Federal School of Biomedical Engineering.
Speaking at the event the Chief Medical Director, Professor Wasiu Lanre Adeyemo FAS, ably represented by the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Professor Ayodeji Oluwole welcomed all present to the event and congratulated the graduating class for their dedication and perseverance, noting that their achievements reflect LUTH’s unwavering commitment to high-quality healthcare training and professional development. He further expressed gratitude to the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Management of LUTH for creating the enabling environment that makes such opportunities possible for Nigerians. He highlighted the scarcity of biomedical engineers in the country and stressed the importance of the four participating schools in strengthening primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare services.
The Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee ably represented by the Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (Research and Training), Dr. Rufus Ojewola, presented an insightful report on the progress of the schools, highlighting the institution’s successful journey from accreditation to reaccreditation. He commended the outstanding performance of the students and expressed appreciation to the government, the hospital management, and the governing board for their continuous support. He urged all stakeholders to sustain their commitment to strengthening LUTH’s position as a leading centre for healthcare education and training.
The Guest of Honour, Professor Edamisan Temiye, who was unavoidably absent, was ably represented by Professor Elizabeth Oyenusi. In delivering his address, she congratulated the graduands and encouraged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, excellence, and integrity as they advanced in their careers. She underscored the value of continuous learning and discipline, reminding them that the healthcare profession demands compassion, commitment, and an unwavering dedication to service. She urged them to be exemplary ambassadors of LUTH and to contribute meaningfully to improving healthcare outcomes in the country.
The Keynote Speaker, Professor Adeola Onakoya, delivered an inspiring keynote address that challenged the graduands to embrace excellence and commit themselves to the advancement of Nigeria’s healthcare system. She urged them to resist the growing trend of seeking opportunities abroad and instead apply their knowledge and skills to strengthen the nation’s health sector. She highlighted resilience, integrity, and service as essential values for a successful and impactful career, reminding the graduands that their contributions are vital to the future of healthcare in Nigeria.
The valedictory message was delivered by Ms. Banke Oluwabori Amusan, a graduating student from the School of Health Information Management, who spoke on behalf of all the graduands. She expressed gratitude to God, the hospital management, and the school’s tutors for their consistent support. She encouraged her fellow graduands to remain focused, determined, and dedicated to excellence in all their future endeavours.
The ceremony was formally brought to a close by Professor Ayodeji Oluwole, who invited the graduating students to rise and give three bows in honour of their parents, their tutors, the Federal Government, and the hospital management. The event concluded on a note of optimism as the 2025 graduating class stepped into a new chapter of service, commitment, and impact in the healthcare sector.
