REPORT ON THE ANNUAL SEMINAR PRESENTATION OF THE COLLEGE OF NURSING SCIENCES, DEPARTMENT OF POST BASIC NURSING

The Department of Post Basic Nursing, College of Nursing Sciences, LUTH, held its Annual Seminar Presentation on Tuesday, 8th October 2025, at the Human Resources Auditorium, LUTH. This year’s seminar featured thought-provoking topics including Adoption of Electronic Triage Systems in Emergency Departments, Paediatric Nursing Seminar, and New Guidelines and Best Practices for Reducing Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia.
The event began with an opening prayer led by Dr. Oyewole, after which Mrs. Ibiyemi Olaiya declared the ceremony open. Speaking at the event, Mrs. Olaiya welcomed everyone warmly and encouraged participants to seize the opportunity to learn, innovate, and think ahead about how nursing can continue to grow as a profession of excellence.



The Governor of the 2024/2025 Set, School of Post Basic Nursing, also spoke at the ceremony, expressing heartfelt appreciation to the Chief Medical Director for his visionary leadership and continued support. He reminded his fellow students that nursing is a lifelong journey that requires learning, collaboration, and innovation, emphasizing the shared duty of service to patients, communities, and humanity at large.
The Acting Head of the School of Post Basic Nursing, Mrs. Ojulari Hassat Opeyemi, in her welcome address, described seminars like this as vital to the professional and intellectual growth of nurses. She reaffirmed the school’s commitment to fostering a culture of inquiry, collaboration, and lifelong learning, urging students to engage actively, take notes, and reflect deeply on all they would learn.

Also speaking at the event, the Provost of the College of Nursing Sciences, Dr. (Mrs.) Olawuyi O.A, appreciated the LUTH management for their continuous support and commended the organizing team for putting together a successful seminar.
Dr. Rufus Ojewola, the Deputy Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (DCMAC), also addressed the gathering. He congratulated the students for their dedication and expressed delight in seeing them demonstrate knowledge and confidence. He encouraged them to continue acquiring skills and applying them in meaningful ways throughout their careers.

The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Wasiu Adeyemo (FAS) , graced the seminar during the students’ presentations. He expressed pride in their performances and urged them to continue striving for excellence in their professional journeys.

The highlight of the event was the series of student presentations from various specialties including Accident and Emergency Nursing, Critical Care, Neonatal, Ophthalmic, Paediatric, and Perioperative Nursing. The Accident and Emergency group’s presentation on the adoption of electronic triage systems stood out, emphasizing how early emergency response can save lives and improve patient outcomes.
The event ended on a high note with applause, commendations, and words of encouragement for the students. Overall, the 2025 Annual Seminar Presentation was a remarkable success, reflecting the department’s dedication to excellence, innovation, and continuous professional development.
